Cordialement

François

Error 1309 when updating Adobe Acrobat 2017 on new Windows 10 PCs.

Hi,

I have been rolling out new PCs for our workplace for the past few weeks. Starting yesterday, I noticed that the last few new PCs I'm setting up have an issue when updating Adobe Acrobat 2017. It gives me error message "Error 1309: Error reading from file: C:\Windows\Installer\$PatchCache$\Managed\68AB67CA3301FFFF7706E01180573600\17.8.30051\wcc hromenativemessaginghost". I have tried reinstalling and repairing the programs a few times with no success. I launched Adobe Acrobat 2017 as Administrator and tried updating it but that did not resolve the issue. The account I'm logging into Windows with is an admin on the PC. I have also tried the troubleshooting methods that I have seen many people suggested from other forums to try from here: Error 1321 or 1309 when installing Adobe Creative Suite 5.5, CS5, or CS4 on Windows .

I looked up to see what wcchromenativemessaginghost is. It seems to be some sort of Chrome plug in. These new PCs currently don't have Chrome installed on them.

The new PCs I'm setting up are Dell Precision 3430 with Windows 10 verison 1809.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Akki,

I tried to update Acrobat Reader DC on 2 different computers (one with Windows7 32 bits and one with Windows7 64). During the installation process, the Adobe folder was be removed from the ProgramFiles and the updater published the message: A newer version is already installed.

The Adobe was disappeared from installed programs, ControlPannel/Programs, but remains in the registry.

Could you help me with some advice? I cannot install Reader anymore.

Best regards,

Ovidiu

Acrobat 8 Pro Nag Screen

I use Acrobat Pro 8, and Adobe has taken their servers offline. Therefore, the recommended procedures is to enter your serial number and a new serial is generated along with a download file that does not require activation. I've followed the steps more than once but here's the problem. Every time I run Acrobat I get the Nag Screen that says I need to register. The instructions say go into help, then into register, then select Never Register. First this doesn't work because the "activate" and "register" drop downs are grayed out. This unique version does not require "activation" but it seems to still want registration. If I can't validate that I never want to register, it assumes I haven't answered the question. I can select, register now, register later, never register, it doesn't matter. Even if the registration option wasn't grayed out, this doesn't work because there is nothing on Adobe's side to accept it as there is no server. Its annoying to have to deal with the Nag Screen every time.  I've put up with it for a year, but there's got to be a solution. I don't want to upgrade as this works fine once I'm past the nag screen. I run it on Windows10.

Acrobat DC SO HORRIBLE it's making me want to cry.

I can't find anywhere to file a complaint or submit feedback, so here it is.

Acrobat DC is horrible. I feel like it wasn't made for professionals at all and makes it much more difficult to navigate a simple document. My custom toolbar at the top? Gone. Replaced by ridiculous pre-school style buttons on the right. Want to re-organize page order? It opens up an entirely separate window for that, totally unnecessarily.

Thanks for giving me a day of trying to figure out how I can delete this worthless pile of kindergarten garbage and somehow get back to just Acrobat XI while still using my cloud sub.

How can I roll back Acrobat Pro version 2019 (subscription) to version 2018? There doesn't seem to be an option in Creative Cloud to roll back Acrobat Pro to a previous version.

I start my system and apple's crash reporter opens with "UpdaterStartupUtility quit unexpectedly."

I have sent it, but it only goes to apple, not Adobe, the people that need to fix it.

I have looked on their support pages, yes all of them took an hour to finally decided to come here and see if anyone knows a channel, path, avenue to send this crash report to Adobe about their updaterstartuputility.  here is a sample. there is more.

I supposedly have Acrobat Standard 8, but I can only view a pdf. I can not edit or merge or do anything else but open a pdf. What am I supposed to be doing or have downloaded? We are already paying a certain amount a month for this, and it is supposed to let us do all the editing and merging we need.

Hi All

I am having problems signing in and opening folders with adobe acrobat pro dc.  It constantly asks me to sign in, but when I do, it goes nowhere.

When I try to open a file, I get an error message "your request could not be completed.  Adobe Acrobat license has either expired or not been activated.  Trying launching Adobe Acrobat.

I am signed into my adobe id account, but cannot sign in for access to the files.  It gives me the sign in page and I successfully sign in, but nothing happens.

We pay a monthly subscription and I checked our account it is up to date.

So, do not know what the problem is.

Your assistance is appreciated.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro: window doesn't display correctly

$

I downloaded the latest version of Acrobat 9 Pro.

Now, when I open multiple documents I have problems.

- When I open the first document, the document displays correctly (fits the screen correctly)

- When I open the second document, the title bar of the window is cut off (that is, the title bar displays above the top edge of the computer screen)

I cannot access the title bar or the menu bar for the second window on my laptop screen without resizing the window.

I am using Windows 7 64 bit, with the display set for custom (110%) font size. My screen resolution is set for the recommended setting for the laptop (1366x768). I cannot use smaller fonts.

How do I get my documents to display correctly when I open more than one document? As a technical writer, I need multiple documents open.

Acrobat Pro 2017 Mac Install Freezes

Håfa Adai (Hello) from Guam!  This is A.J. Rosario from the Guam Visitors Bureau.  We are a client of yours for multiple products.  Need assistance with an installation problem I am having with Acrobat Pro 2017.  It is a standalone perpetual product with it's own serial number - I have been trying to install on a particular iMac, and it freezes toward the end.  All other deployments/installations have been successful.  It is just on this unit.  Here is what happens:  While installing the Adobe Acrobat 2017 (Classic), it freezes.  It says 'Running package scripts ..., and Install time remaining: About a minute ... But it just freezes.  Then I have to FORCE-QUIT, and then perform a HARD SHUTDOWN using the power button on the iMac ...

Acrobat DC very slow and unresponsive, spinning beach ball when using interface

$

Since I installed Acrobat DC, I dread opening PDFs with it as it is very unresponsive and slow. Everything takes ages. One click: several seconds of spinning beach ball, next click: the same.

The bigger the file, the slower the app. Today I opened a 2.1 MB file with 90 pages (business cards, text plus vector based logo, 2c: black and one spot colour, no backgrounds) and standardoperations such as changing the display settings, showing thumbnails, rearranging pages anddeleting pages took me about 15 minutes in contrast to 2. I cannot work with this tool an aprofessional basis anymore. :-(

I hoped that an update would patch this but i seems that there have not been many updates toAcrobat DC showing up in my Creative Cloud panel. :-(

Some time ago I uninstalled it and reinstalled it from the cloud but no changes at all. Still slow, stillunresponsive performance.

I really hate the new version. First you had to uninstall the old one which worked fine, instead ofbeing able to use both versions as with other Adobe applications. Then the interface had beenredesigned YET AGAIN. Zooming seems way more complicated as the normal shortcuts as in otherAdobe apps (drawing zoom in window with magnifier) don't work anymore.

Then this horrible "optimize for reading" message kept popping up, stuck in the foreground andprevented changes from being saved. (That has changed now and ist working though this 90s era"optimize for reading" window still appears on a regular basis.) That was horrible and nerve-racking.

But it got worse with the freezing and the spinning beach ball whenever I try to interact with theinterface.

I searched the web but not much is found on this issue. There were some ideas in this forum(deleting the "read out loud" plugin, deactivating privacy and security settings etc.) but no changes.

I made Acrobat Reader my PDF default and it is way faster but of course it is much less capable.Even better (because less bloated) is Apple’s Preview that is really fast and works instantly with thesame files.

All the other Adobe apps I installed on my system work completely fine (Adobe CS6 and the latestAdobe CC 2015); InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Muse, Bridge.

I suspect that the app tries to connect with some server or to do all kinds of interaction with the harddrive and therefore slows down immensely. Or maybe support or display operations like rendering? In Activity Monitor it is often marked as "does not respond".
